How Can I Prevent Night Sweats?

I have a host of sleep issues, but one that has been rearing its ugly head lately is night sweats. I generally don’t sweat much during strenuous activity or when I’m hot, but I’ll wake up in the middle of the night completely drenched in sweat! Every square inch of skin on my body will be soaking wet, and the sheets get all wet. I’ll feel really hot, it’s not a cold sweat or anything. I’ve tried making the house cooler at night (turning the AC down to 68 degrees), wearing different pajamas, wearing no pajamas…..nothing is helping. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can prevent this from happening every night?
Also, I’m not menopausal and I’m not pregnant. I take birth control, but the night sweats don’t cycle or anything….it’ll just happen for a few weeks at a time, then it won’t happen for a while.   I’m 21 years old.

Hyperhidrosis can be caused by food allergies, or a mineral/vitamin deficiency. I had it for a long time before learning this.

Check out this article about hyperhidrosis, grains, and sugars. Scroll about halfway down the page.

I had hyperhidrosis and other symptoms for many years and went through all the usual treatments including prescription drugs, antiperspirants, botox, ETS surgery. The surgery was most helpful but several years later hyperhidrosis began to return.

Years later I was diagnosed with a few food allergies. I eliminated wheat, dairy, and sugar from my diet. I stopped all prescriptions and began taking supplements for B vitamins and magnesium.
