The causes of night sweats varies from person to person. Why sweat? Sweating is a natural reaction of your body to keep its temperature under control.
At night, when is extremely hot, a person can sweat to get rid of body heat, which is then carried away by the sweat dissipating. Waking up in the middle of the night all soaked in his own sweat is a sleep killer on it’s own. It’s definitely a hassle to get up and get a new pair of pajamas and even pull the sheets out of the drawer. You’re in luck if you fall asleep or you’re in trouble if you are awake all night trying to figure out why you sweat over at a time when everyone is asleep.
There are ways to reduce night sweats, here are a few:
- It’s a good idea to get plenty of water before bed.
- A cold shower can help reduce body temperature and make you feel much more cooler before bedtime.
- Sleep in cooler temperatures than what you are used too.
Menopause & Night Sweats
Another causes of night sweats is the transition into menopause, for women it can cause hormonal changes that occur during menopause phase transition may produce periods of intense heat sensation, resulting in the activation of sweat glands. This is hormonal and will go down as the transition is completed.
A general cause of night sweats that passes through a number of conditions and causes a lot of confusion is the hypothalamus, the part of the brain that acts as a thermostat measurement of body temperature and send directions on how our bodies respond to that temperature. Several hormones, diseases, food and medicine can throw the hypothalamus out or at least affect the brain chemical norepinephrine, which then throws off our natural thermostat.
Night Sweats Hyperhidrosis
Night sweats, clinically defined as sleep hyperhidrosis, is a soaking perspiration occurring at night or while sleeping. It is important to recognize that many more people think they suffer from night sweats more than they actually do. It is not unusual for a healthy person to sweat a little when they sleep, especially if they are in a warm climate. In general, the colder the temperatures that we accept to live day to day is considered healthier to sleep in.
